I can stop malaria...

...not for everyone, but for someone I can. Maybe for a lot of people if I decide to try. So maybe I will!

Here in the United States a lot of people suffer from diseases needlessly, but in other parts of the world often a norm for peoples lives to be dragged down and often ended early because of preventable Illness; diseases that we can actually do something about.

Alex Fluegel, a 12 year old from right here in the Twin Cities, can teach us all a lot about this - and, in fact, he did! Alex has taken on malaria thanks to his congregation's Kingdom Assignment and the Lutheran Malaria Intiative with which he teamed up. Read Alex's story HERE, and watch for us to post the audio/video of his inspiring message to Jacob's Well as we all seek to JustStart>, kind of like Alex did.

What's your kingdom assignment? Don't worry if you don't have it all figured out. Few of us do. But start learning and you'll certainly find out how you can be the arms and legs of God's love in the world in a way that fits you!

By the way, if you want to donate to Alex's endeavor you will find ways to do it in the stories linked above, or you can give your gift to Jacob's Well any of the usual ways and just mark it "Alex" or "Malaria" or anything like that and we'll know what you mean and get it to him.

And here's an event that is happening on November 10, 2010. We're raising money for those life-saving insecticide-soaked mosquito nets you've been hearing so much about lately: http://www.mpls-synod.org/programs/youth/2010confo

And the Jacob's Well band is going to be leading music at the event. There are going to be nearly 1000 people there, we're praying... even if half those people do something about malaria, that will be a huge chunck. But we know that everyone can do something. Let's tackle this together; if the "developed" world doesn't step in, there won't be anyone left...
